Founded in the 1930s, 'Raystede' is a charity that cares for over 2000 animals a year, rehoming over 1000 animals and providing sanctuary to even more. Visitors also come to enjoy the 43 acre site to meet the animals and enjoy the sanctuary walks and cafe. It is a special place.
We have been working with Differentia for the last 3.5 years to improve Raystede's visitor experience and access, manage visitor behaviour, engage audiences more, and increase awareness of the charity and the lives of the animals in their care.
As part of these improvements we have completed a signage audit, developed an interpretation management plan, created new way-marking throughout the site, a range of interpretation panels at the animal enclosures (both static and interactive), audio posts, a timeline in the cafe, carved seats, the rainbow bridge - a place of memory to our animals lost, as well as guidelines for any future interpretation.
